This position sits in the product marketing team and can be anywhere in the US or Canada.

What You'll Do


  • Stay current on technology trends that impact the competitive landscape.
  • Lead the analysis and research of competitors’ technical capabilities and their sales and marketing motions.
  • Conceptualize external competitive campaigns, including the positioning, messaging, and narrative, to differentiate Alation with demonstrable proof points.
  • Lead win/loss analysis and provide action plans based on learnings.
  • Enable and support the field in competitive engagement, including joining sales calls as the subject matter expert in Alation’s strengths as needed.
  • Maintain and develop internal and external collateral, such as customer-facing sales decks and internal battle cards that clearly and succinctly articulate strategies and technical capabilities to help us win in competitive situations.
  • Maintain win/loss dashboards and work with sales operations to maintain the health and cleanliness of input data into those dashboards.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, product, and sales.


What You Need


  • 3-5 years of competitive intelligence experience in the B2B enterprise software market.
  • Technical or product marketing or sales engineer experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and content creation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to turn complex details into actionable intelligence and sales-ready assets in a way that uplifted field competitiveness.
  • Ability to work and learn in a rapidly changing startup environment
  • BS degree or higher, or equivalent experience
  • An understanding of the data management and analytics market
  • Prior use of competitive-related tools.


$120,000 - $131,000 a year


The base salary range is specific to the United States. The salary of the final candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, work location, specialty, and training. If the final candidate has a different level of experience, the base salary target range may be lower or higher than what is published.
